During university, the two founders of Viprotron GmbH were fascinated by modern image processing, and already at that time they began to investigate the possible applications of this digital technology. After successfully finishing their studies, Kai Vogel (B.Sc. Robotics/Automation) and Andreas Sandner (B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering) spent many years in a specialized company that dealt with surface inspection, where they both discovered their passion for glass inspection.
Together they developed their business idea of creating a high quality glass scanner for architectural glass, that is long-lasting, works reliably and has a good cost-benefit value. In 2004 their vision was transformed into a business – Viprotron was founded.
In the same year the first prototype was installed at Glas Dreisbusch, a glass manufacturer in Goldbach near Aschaffenburg. The following year, the two managing directors closed a shipping deal for the equipment of insulating glass lines with the globally operating company Saint-Gobain Glass.
Almost at the same time, the partnership contract with Bystronic Glass, a manufacturer of glass processing machines, was also signed. Since then, Viprotron systems can be integrated directly into their glass production lines using perfectly fitting OEM cutting lines.
